In 2002, Elene returned to Tbilisi and began to refine the business plan and look for the suitable investors, and at the same time she met R. In 2005, in Tbilisi, the demand for a truly western University was so pronounced that in spite of the fact that at that time there were already two international business schools in operation, the interest was substantial enough in a program which offering joint programs in Business and Law and to move forward with the opening of a Business School and Law School at the Georgian American University. Georgian American University was established in 2001 as an MBA project of Elene Jamarjashvili during her study at Atlanta State University (USA). Initially at starting it was designed as a School of Law with the graduates to be granted a Junior Doctor (JD) degree. In Atlanta Elene met Kenneth A. Cutshaw who is a prominent lawyer in US and Europe and interested in the establishment of the university and agreed to help for the university establishment with one of the leading American Law Schools – American University’s Washington College of Law (Washington, DC) in the partnership. In 2002, Elene returned to Tbilisi and began to refine the business plan and look for the suitable investors, and at the same time she met R. Michael Cowgill who is the US-funded consultant to the Georgian Government for implementing the Baku-Ceyhan (BTC) and South Caucasus (SCP) pipeline projects. After that MR. Cowgill agreed to advise Ms. Jamarjashvili and become the University President.
In 2005, in Tbilisi, the demand for a truly western University was so pronounced that in spite of the fact that at that time there were already two international business schools in operation, the interest was substantial enough in a program which offering joint programs in Business and Law and to move forward with the opening of a Business School and Law School at the Georgian American University.
